Tracking and trailing is the folowing of a track or trail left by someone.
More specific tracking is the following of disturbed ground, crushed vegetations and the scent of the footsteps.
Trailing is the following of scent left by a person. This can be sweat or rafts.
In tracking the dog follows the footsteps, you can even see moving his nose from step to step.
In Trailing the dog can be even 10 feet away from the actual trail, just where the wind blows the scent.
Trailing can be done on hard surfaces like in a city.
Generally speaking up to 48 hour old trails can be followed.
